The celluloid terror Freddy Krueger needs no clue to be recognized. The monster’s name speaks for him. This fictional character was designed for the movie ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ in which this devil kills small children and people in their dreams, which results in death of those people in real world too. This monster has a peculiar claw shaped hand with sharp razors muzzling outwards and had a skin-less face. Freddy Krueger is deep rooted somewhere in the unconscious minds of those who watch horror movies. The fans had always been thrilled and exalted on the view of this satanic figure.

Freddy Krueger symbolizes neglect which some of the children suffer in their life. This monster has certain characteristic like burnt face, red and green striped sweater and the most significant Freddy Krueger Glove. This character had terrored millions of viewers and finally came to his end in Elm street series in its sixth part, But as the saying goes. ‘Devils do not die’. The time saw the re emergence of this cruel monster in the movie ‘Wes Carven’s New Nightmare’ in which this terror figure tried to enter into the real world from dreams. Freddy Krueger had written the new dimension of monstrosity.

In this movie he didn’t wear his routine striped sweater rather chose to have a new look. The loose brown trousers were replaced by leather pants and the fedora is of green color now, matching his sweater. The role of this monster is not limited to silver screen only. He had made his debut in TV serials and in ad films too.

The basis of Freddy Krueger design had been inspired from the news reported in the Los Angles times regarding some mysterious serial killer who traumatized small children in their dreams. Craven also had some personal experience which made him to realize this monster on the silver screen. He had a guy in his high school who dreaded him and he always felt like a Freddy Krueger like figure walking besides him at the walk way. He was always in panic due to that and uses to hide away.

The article that makes Freddy Krueger memorable is his clawed gloves. Carven said that he got this inspiration from his cat. Claws of animals had always been a source of terror in humans and that is why Freddy Krueger Gloves had those tremendous hooks much resembling long human fingernails.
